Mud Dancer: A Poem

As we watch life become a growing pustule

On the face of humanity

A question arises,

How did we ever get so far from the smooth,

Idealistic, innocents we once were

With brown mud squishing joyfully

Between our toes

Keeping us ever so clean?

We wash

La cara muchas veces

Our face many times

But the pustule remains

Urging us to  dig deep inside

Until maybe the roots of the infection

Are cleansed

And we can return to our former

Mud dancing selves.
